About the International Museum of Surgical Science:

A division of the International College of Surgeons, IMSS was established in 1954 by pioneering surgeon and fine art photographer Max Thorek. Four floors of exhibits housed in a historic lakefront mansion portray the ancient and modern healing practices of Eastern and Western civilizations—from acupuncture to x-rays—through artifacts, fine art, and archival materials.
